Air New Zealand announced new service from Auckland, New Zealand to Chicago. That should mean good things for Star Alliance partner United Airlines and the potential for more award space.
If you’re an aviation geek (or even an aspiring geek) the ultimate travel adventure is about to go on sale again. Tickets for StarMegaDO 7 will go on sale today. The schedule will take you to Airbus’ private airport for a tour, with stops in Mykonos and Athens along the way as well. Find out more….
Who said every cloud doesn’t have a silver lining? I’m guessing new bookings to Greece may have dropped a bit, and the sale announced yesterday by Aegean Airlines is another good piece of evidence in support of that. They’re offering tickets to Athens and Thessaloniki for 19 Euro and tickets FROM Greece to elsewhere in their network for 39 Euro. ETA: reading is apparently harder than I thought. As pointed out to me in comments, the T&C of the fare sale are for domestic segments. However, when I looked at […]
Pizza-in-chief note. This is a guest post by a good friend of mine, Nathan. The airlines recently lost his suitcase and he reached out to me about constructing a post to help readers understand what to do when this happens to you. Nathan has been actively involved in the Dahl Fund since its inception. The Dahl Fund is committed to providing scholarships for aspiring young pilots. It was started and continues to be organized by family, friends and colleagues of Jason Dahl, an experienced pilot who lost his life protecting […]
Pretty straightforward. US Airways has offered this earlier this year. Essentially, you can transfer up to 50,000 miles from your account to someone else’s and receive a 100% bonus for doing so (meaning you earn 50,000 miles). The cost to transfer those miles is just over $500, or about 1.1 cents per point. You’ll need to have someone to transfer your miles to (and hopefully they’ll transfer them back so you both get 50,000 miles). Important side note, any account you transfer from and to needs to be open […]
I woke up this morning to an announcement on Milepoint by United Airlines about award chart increases. At first, I didn’t really think it was that bad. But, the more I dug into it, more I realized this was a bit of a “Black Friday” event for mileage folks and not in a good way. These changes don’t go into effect until February, so you have a bit of time to plan your next trips, but it’s pretty bad. I don’t have a ton of time to summarize this morning, […]
US Airways has announced their 100% bonus again on purchased miles and it’s the last time we’re going to see a “non-targeted” offer of 100%. I got some information today from someone “in the know” about such things. They’ve said that this will be the last time US Airways offers a targeted offer like this prior to the American Airlines merger and that this offer was moved up on the schedule to get it in before both parties merge. That’s not necessarily a sign that American won’t do the […]
