The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles and points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
I’m trying to catch up on all the goals I set out to accomplish, one of which was staying at all 12 MGM properties in Las Vegas (in recognition of the Hyatt/MGM partnership) and reviewing them. Catching back up now with the next review in the series. The 12 properties (with past and future reviews) are: MGM Grand THEhotel at Mandalay Bay Vdara Aria Bellagio Monte Carlo Signature at MGM Grand Excalibur Luxor New York New York Mirage Mandalay Bay The Signature at MGM Grand is essentially a timeshare property […]
Las Vegas has plenty of hotel rooms and sometimes it feels like there are as many “deals” as there are rooms. The endless supply of deals and packages can be a bit overwhelming. Suffice it to say if you’re paying full price for a hotel room in Vegas you’re likely leaving money on the table (that you could be spending at the tables). For those of you with Hyatt elite status (or looking for an excuse to acquire it), don’t forget that you have a pretty lucrative discount program at […]
MGM Resorts is really the dominant player in terms of the sheer variety of great properties they have in Las Vegas. They have upscale properties like Aria and Vdara, mid-level properties like Mandalay Bay and MGM, and budget properties like Luxor and Excalibur. I’ve always enjoyed Vegas but since I don’t gamble a lot, I never thought I’d be able to enjoy many of the perks that the casinos offered. Then, Hyatt announced a groundbreaking partnership with MGM Resorts almost 2 years ago, giving Hyatt Gold Passport members access to […]
Facts: Nobody would ever accuse me of being a Facebook junkie. I’m certainly not a Candy Crush (or any other FB game) sort of guy. And yet, I’ve been playing a game called myVegas on Facebook for a while now. You can read my earlier review of it here. I’ll admit I don’t play the game as much as others do, mostly because those sorts of things don’t suit me. But, then they released a bunch of Royal Caribbean prizes to entice me. And, they’re pretty darn good. Take a […]
Good news, bad news. For those that were targeted, there’s a pretty lucrative Hyatt Gold Passport promotion out for the fall. I was targeted, and the promo looks as follows: It’s a stacking promo similar to ones that Hyatt has run in the past 5 nights earns 5,000 bonus points. 10 nights earns an additional 10,000 points. 15 nights earns an additional 15,000 points. 20 nights earns an additional 20,000 points I did confirm with Hyatt that this promo is targeted, and at least somewhat narrowly as I spoke […]
I got a bit more info on how the Hyatt #MakeVegasYours promotions will work. There will be weekly contests on the site. Hyatt Gold Passport is launching a new digital hub to help you make the most out of Las Vegas, with an opportunity to win free prizes like free nights at M Life properties, show tickets and Hyatt Gold Passport points. This is an expansion of their partnership with MGM Resorts and M Life that was launched last year. They’re branding it with the hashtag #MakeVegasYours, which will be tough to do in a city as wild as Las Vegas. You can find more info on the website launching today. I’ve […]
