75,000 Mile AA Sign-Up Bonus, Free Boeing Tour Giveaway. The Best of The Rest For Monday, July 6th 2015

Don’t forget I’m giving away two months of your own free travel assistant to everyone.

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length.  On a daily basis, I try to keep track of roughly 100 different blogs (try being the operative word) that have interesting things for you and I to learn from.  Some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.  Here’s what I’m reading about today:

JetBlue opened up an awesome new outdoor facility open to all passengers departing from T5 at JFK.  It looks pretty darn awesome.

If you’re not a member of Orbitz Rewards, you can join right now and get a $10 credit to use instantly on a hotel stay.

Best of the Rest

If you’re looking for a free private tour at Boeing that benefits a great charity, today is your last day to enter.  Randy Petersen is giving away two free passes on Milepoint.

Anyone who has asked for credit card advice in the last few months has heard the same thing from me.  I’ve been pretty sure that Citibank was going to raise the sign-up bonus on the American Airlines Citi Executive Card.  I didn’t think it would go back to 100,000 like it did last year (one of the greatest offer I’ve seen in a long time).  But, 75K seemed likely.  It seemed likely to happen when Barclay started trying to get existing cardholders to upgrade to a more expensive card with more benefits.

And, that’s exactly what happened.  If you’ve been thinking about it at all, jump on this 75K offer now.  It won’t go higher, IMO, and I don’t think we’ll see it again for a while.

The cause of that crazy TransAsia plane crash has been announced.  The footage captured on that one still makes my jaw drop.  Scary stuff.

American Airlines is introducing the 787 to their fleet out of LAX in the fall, spinning up service on two routes to Asia and South America.

One Mile at a Time has recruited a wine expert who just started an interesting series on drinking wine at 35,000 feet (and lots of other elevations).

Have you ever booked a rental car and wanted to voluntarily downgrade to a smaller vehicle????

The Points Guy has a list of all-American amusement parks perfect for a summer vacation.  I’ve done 2-5 and will be doing Disneyland as an adult for the first time with my kids this fall.

TPG also has a cool itinerary to see all 30 MLB teams in 20 days and visit some cool stadiums.  I’ve had a goal for quite a while to visit every professional sports stadium in the US (you can see my progress here).  His post reminds me I have a few new accomplishments to add to my list!

Will Run For Miles has info on a 5X Thank You Points offer for Back To School purchases.

$10 off a $30 grocery order from Amazon (thanks, Doctor of Credit!)

Heels First Travel found a program where you can earn points for exercising.  I think I’d need at least a 5X bonus category to get really motivated.
