A Winner, And Another Giveaway!

Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway for two AAdmirals Club passes last week.  The winner from that first giveaway was Madeleine, who said: We have never had an Admiral Club pass and are flying through Arizona on a US Air flight. I believe it would work there. Congrats, Madeleine!  Drop me an e-mail at ed -at- milepoint dot com to collect your passes. Just in time for another giveaway (or two of them)!  One of my readers, CK, saw the earlier giveaway thread and wanted to join in the […]

GIVEAWAY: United Club Passes

Good morning!  I’ve got 4 United Club one-time passes to give away.  2 are mine and 2 are the generosity of reader David H.  I received these as part of the new benefits that Hyatt Gold Passport released recently.  I’m already a United Club member, so I’m happy to see these go to a good home. I’ll give these away to 2 winners (2 passes each) who leave a comment below about a travel question they have or a travel tip they want to share with others.  Multiple entries per day are fine as […]

Year-End Hotel Status Review

It was a long year of hotel nights.  And, while the dust remains to settle on the posting of my last hotel stay, I’m supposed to finish with enough nights to maintain my Hyatt Diamond status as well as Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum status at the 75-night level.  I was hoping to travel less this year. I ended up spending less total days away from home but taking more trips.  It was a pretty exhausting year of travel. I value both programs, but I thought I would include some analysis […]

Hyatt Tech! Lifetime Base Points Now Listed On Monthly E-Statements

I’ve written frequently in the past about my affection for lifetime status. I figure if my day job is going to take me away from my family frequently then we should get the benefit later in life of being able to enjoy all the benefits I’m entitled to now. I value Hyatt Diamond status very highly, the most valuable hotel status. And, I’ve been working my way to lifetime Diamond, inching closer over the years. Unlike Starwood Preferred Guest, which bases their lifetime status on total nights and total years […]

Hyatt Copies A Nifty Starwood Feature: A Headstart On Status By Spending On Their Card

If you’re a holder of the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card, you should be familiar with their feature that gives you stay and night credit every year you maintain their card.  You can get 5 nights and 2 stays by holding the SPG Amex, and actually double that if you have both the personal and corporate versions of the card. Now, Hyatt’s version of this benefit is significantly less rewarding.  You need to spend $20,000 on their card to get 2 stays and 5 nights of credit.  If you […]

Reviewing My Status Progress For The Year

Earlier in the year I carved out my goals for 2012.  Since I just finished re-qualifying for Hyatt Diamond, now seemed like a good time to do a bit of homework to see if I was on track.  We’re not quite to the halfway point of the year, but it’s been a busy 5 months or so. American Airlines (Executive Platinum):  18K to go to finish out EXP for the year and I’ll earn 10K of those with credit card purchases.  This is a lock, and my favorite airline status. […]
