Housekeeping standards vary widely in different hotels. Heck, sometimes even in the same hotel. I’ve had housekeepers put away the iron and ironing board after I use it while others leave it out. Some put a towel under my toiletries, some don’t. But, I thought there was a fairly consistent standard on bed making.
There are absolutely grosser things than sleeping in a bed that a stranger slept in before you. But, I wouldn’t pay for any of those things and I don’t want to sleep on dirty sheets. Do you?
I’d like to say I don’t believe that this many hotels failed this small test. But, I can’t say I’m terribly surprised. Do we need one of those little paper sanitation rings they used to put on toilet seats to let you know they cleaned them, except much bigger for the bed?
A TV program went undercover (no pun intended) to find out if hotels always change the sheets after a guest checks out. I can’t tell whether I’m surprised or not with the results.
I remember discovering videos years ago showing housekeeping employees at major hotel chains doing some pretty gross things with those glasses you find in your room. But, I hadn’t really contemplated them trying to make someone else’s bed sheets look clean…..
