American Airlines Opening Up More Business Class Awards? The Best Of the Rest For Tuesday, May 19th 2015

Lots going on today in the world of miles and points. Eastern is up in the air, American Airlines is offering up more business class award seats to Europe, and there’s a pretty darn good fare sale to Brazil (or Fort Lauderdale, if you’re looking closer to home). The Best of the Rest…

DOT Investigating Those United “Krone Krime” Mistake Fares, Southwest Making Their Points Less Valuable And Other News

The DOT is officially investigating the “Krone Krime” United mistake fares from earlier in the week.  Gary’s pretty sure the DOT will side with United.  While that’s still the most likely outcome, I think there’s still a puncher’s chance some of these tickets are honored. From mistake fares to Danish Krone, the only logical transition is to a German man doing a striptease on a plane.  Matthew Klint really does end up on all the fun flights. Southwest is devaluing their Rapid Rewards program, adding “variability” to certain flights, so […]

Quick and easy, leave a comment here.  Let me know if you’re entering for the United beverage vouchers, Gogo pass or both. You can enter once per day.  I’ll draw winners on Monday, February 2nd, 2015. Good luck! The post GIVEAWAYS: United […]

The Two Gogo Pass Winners Are….

Again, a special thanks to Charles at McCool Travel for giving these passes away to my readers. First, though there were a number of humorous responses, Klark takes the prize with this: A couple were having dinner last night at a restaurant. Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the woman acting unconcerned. The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight […]

2 Free Gogo Passes, Must Be Used By December 31, 2014

Quick giveaway, I’ll pick winners tomorrow.  A special thanks to Charles McCool of McCool Travel for offering them up. If you haven’t checked out his site, you should. The passes must be used by December 31 of this year, so please don’t participate if you can’t use the codes. Just leave a comment in this post.  I’m fine with multiple entries but no more than 10 per person (i.e don’t spam the thread). I’ll give away at least one randomly, but if someone makes me laugh hard enough I’ll give […]

Some Delta Members Getting Transcon Upgrades, Bonus Miles on American to Asia, A Great Points Transfer List. Things I Find Interesting On Thursday, June 26th, 2014

Hyatt has released an update to their iPhone app with lots of increase functionality.  Hyatt has been way behind the curve on the reliability of their technology and on feature enhancements.  This update takes care of some welcome feature enhancements but we’ll need a bit more time to see if this improves the reliability and functionality. HT: ballardFlyer on Milepoint. Delta starts to allow higher tier elites to upgrade on transcontinental flights.  This is a nice plus for Diamond and Platinum Medallion members as Delta has a pretty nice product […]

Southwest Is The First Domestic Airline To Enable Wifi For Entire Flights

From Southwest’s website: It doesn’t take long to get up to 10,000 feet, so it’s not like Southwest is millions of miles ahead of Gogo.  But, since they have ubiquitous satellite Wifi on planes (unlike UA or AA’s and DL’s ground-based wifi) they get to trumpet this achievement a few steps ahead of at least United Airlines. And, setting aside my own preference to fly carriers other than Southwest, $8 per day for wifi is pretty darn reasonable considering the competition.  $5 movies on your devices isn’t quite as good […]

Delta, American, United and JetBlue All Certified By FAA For Electronic Devices For Entire Flight

With announcements from United Airlines yesterday and American Airlines the day before, we now have a large amount of planes certified by the FAA to allow certain personal electronic devices in all facets of flight, including taxi, take-off and landing. I was discussing the FAA announcement with a friend just a few days ago while we were both sitting on a United Airlines flight.  I said I wasn’t surprised Delta was the first to certify their mainline fleet.  Delta may have a pitiful loyalty program but they do run a […]
