Here’s what I’m reading about in the world of miles and points:
Cheap Flights of the Day:
I’m still seeing fares under $450 to Asia. They’re a few bucks higher than last night when I saw this, but still pretty darn good.
In Case You Missed It:
American Airlines notched another quiet, but major achievement yesterday when they integrated flight operations for both US Airways and American. Taken further, this is the first time in almost a decade that the US Airways pilots have all been on one system.
Maya Liebman, American’s CTO, is the real deal. I remember meeting her 5 years ago at an industry event and was instantly impressed. Her team continues to move forward more quickly and with fewer errors than previous large mergers.
There are some who deride American for not moving further ahead on other tech issues. They’ve had a lot on their plate with the merger. They continue to outperform other larger mergers, so I expect that they will continue to innovate.
AAdvantage program? That’s been a different kind of innovation lately.
