$150 For Any Wyndham Hotel On Sale Today

We’re halfway through the first week of the 2016 collection of Daily Getaways deals offered by the U.S. Travel Association. If you’re not familiar, these are a handful of deals that come up each year where you can purchase discounted travel.

There are 5 total weeks of offers running through May 6th. You can see my brief overview of the first two weeks worth of offers here.

Today’s Daily Getaway features Wyndham Hotels and the ability to score any hotel room in their system for $150.  Wyndham made changes to their loyalty program not too long ago where they leveled all award nights at a redemption rate of 15,000 points.  While I thought the change was a bit nuts, it does create an opportunity to save money for those willing to do a little treasure hunting.

Wyndham has a wide suite of brands:

  • Wyndham Hotels
  • Wingate by Wyndham
  • Microtel Inn & Suites
  • Ramada
  • Baymont Inn & Suites
  • Days Inn
  • Super 8
  • Howard Johnson
  • Travelodge
  • Knights Inn
  • Dolce Hotels

Now, there are definitely some brands (and locations) where spending $150 will be a big mistake.  But, there are properties in key markets like New York, Los Angeles, London and the Caribbean.  As Mommy Points notes, they even have a handful of all-inclusive properties where $150 could be a real steal (I’ve never stayed at one so can’t vouch for the quality).  I have some friends that work for Dolce and they operate some very nice hotels.

Each Wyndham Rewards member is limited to purchasing 2 packages (or 2 free nights), but you should be able to purchase these for multiple accounts and string together a longer trip that way for those planning family vacations.

As with previous Daily Getaways package, I add a bit of caution here in that the points can take up to 10 business days to post to your Wyndham Rewards account.  There’s no guarantee of award availability, and what you see today may not ultimately be there when the points are in your account.  It’s also important to have a very specific plan when purchasing points.  When Wyndham made their changes to a flat award structure, you’d have been really happy if saving up for a vacation at a property that was 30,00 points a night.  But, you would’ve been royally pissed if the property you were saving for was 10,000 points a night prior to the change.

Given the number of packages available, I suspect this deal will sell out today shortly after 1pm EST, so be ready a few minutes before if you’re interested in purchasing it.

It looks like everything from last week sold out except for the IHG Rewards points packages.  You can see my thoughts if you’re interested in that deal.
