Pizza Week In Review: May 31, 2015

hands holding a sign with text

Here’s a quick spin through the week of aviation, my week in review of miles and points from Pizza in Motion:

The 747 used to rule the skies, but more and more of them are ending up in airplane graveyards.  As Virgin Atlantic continues eliminating them from their fleet, here’s a look at what their future fleet looks like.

What happens when a mistake fare happens the other way?

Meanwhile, is American Airlines going to stop awarding miles on mistake fares?

Aer Lingus is returning to the oneworld alliance now that British Airways bought out the Irish government’s stake in the airline.  Since American Airlines is my primary airline, having another way to get overseas without big fuel surcharges is a big plus.  And, Dublin is a lot easier airport to connect through than Heathrow.

A quick look at using your iPhone to open your Hyatt hotel room.

Apple Pay is rolling out a rewards program.

Best of the Rest for the week:

How do you figure out how much to pay for a Delta award, and coverage of new Citi ThankYou benefits?

Uber in Nevada, fare sales galore, and how to search for Etihad first inventory.

Big American Airlines AAdvantage giveaway and a VIP tour of Boeing.

750 Free United Miles, last chance at Club Carlson BOGO and bonus miles for Marriott stays.

More US customs pre-clearance facilities, the new LaGuardia airport takes a step further but still years away, and (shock of shocks) members of congress get breaks with the airlines you and I don’t.

Celebrity Cruises adding overnight stays to some Caribbean itineraries, 5,000 Rapid Rewards points for a hotel booking and tons of business class award space between Austin and London.
