Cheap Fares To Cancun And Russia, 3X Miles For Apple Purchases. The Best of The Rest For Sunday, May 31st, 2015

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length.  It’s your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.  Here’s today’s version:

The great fares continue with a bunch of cheap fares to Cancun.  As always, The Flight Deal has it covered:

AAA’s loyalty program apparently provides discounted lounge access, according to Heels First.  That’s not the greatest lounge in the free world but would probably be worth $5 if you needed a spot to hang out for a while. I’m a AAA member but wasn’t aware of lounge discounts.  I did some searching on the AAA website but couldn’t find much beyond the Club at PHX and a reference to a club I’ve never heard of in Seattle.

I got an e-mail from the AAdvantage shopping portal this morning that they boosted the payout on Apple Store purchases to 3X.  That’s probably the best I’ve seen in quite some time (not to be confused with the 3X the Ultimate Rewards store lists which includes the 1 base mile you earn for charging it on their credit card).

Where’s the worst place to catch a taxicab in Bangkok? HT: Kalboz on Milepoint

Totally not my area of expertise, but Le Chic Geek covers yoga pants that are perfect for travel.

Miles to Memories found an offer where you can earn 25,000 miles when you buy a new car.  Not too shabby if you’re in the market.

If you live in Orlando (or are heading there in July) you might be able to meet up with your fellow frequent travelers for a glass of wine. HT: Gaucho on milepost.

    1. Ryan, I just looked and don’t see the fares I saw on AA yesterday. Looks like this is dead. I saw flights out of SFO on AA for less than $300 yesterday. $399 seems cheapest now.
