I really did think 6 miles per dollar on Apple purchases would be the biggest thing we’d see for a while. I was obviously wrong.
United has been notifying customers who’s accounts are recently compromised. HT: Wandering Aramean I’m actually surprised this doesn’t happen more often, given that the password requirements for some airline and hotel companies are absurdly simple (4-digit numbers, for example with United and Hilton). How to get kicked off a plane for listening to loud music. Or, for hating Christmas. Or, for just being stupid Just about the most awesome airline seat you’re ever gonna see. Where do your travels find you this week? .
The Chase Ultimate Rewards cards have been among my favorites for a few years now. The flexibility of how you can spend those points is a big part of the equation. I recommend these cards frequently to friends and family because of the ability to transfer points in small or large quantities to many airlines and hotel companies, like United Airlines, British Airways and Hyatt Gold Passport. The cards have also been historically flexible in allowing transfers of points to other people. I’ve helped out close friends in the past […]
I’m running behind on reporting this but American Airlines has announced a promo worth considering for their dining reward program. The dining reward networks that the airlines (and a few hotels) have partnered with over the years used to be a great way to earn miles and points. But, as time has gone on the promos have gotten less lucrative and I’ve largely stopped paying attention. This promo has possibilities. You can’t just go in and buy a soda at 10 different restaurants like in the old days, so these […]
Chase Ink cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points are my favorite cards. View From the Wing is reporting that sign-up bonuses have increased to 60,000 points from the normal 50,000. The last time Chase did this it only lasted about a week, so you should consider this sooner than later. How about a $5 trip to Chicago? Points and Pixie Dust did just that with a little bit of planning. United is sending up smoke signals about converting to a more revenue-based frequent flyer program. HT: chitownflyer on Milepoint Is […]
Hertz has been running an offer most of the year that earns 4 miles per dollar for all rentals in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe for all rentals up to 4 days long and 6 miles per dollar for all rentals longer than 4 days. It was due to expire in August but it appears Hertz is extending it through the end of the year. I happen to be a Hertz fan so this one sets up nicely for me. AVIS also has a current offer of 2,000 […]
Thanks to everyone who decided to follow me through WordPress, Twitter and Facebook and for the over 1,000 comments during the time of the contest. Heck, some of those comments were even logical. 🙂 I also wanted to take a moment and let everyone know I have 3 more contests coming up. Two will be for various swag I collected and some drink vouchers and the 3rd will be more points/miles, though I haven’t decided what to give away yet. So, stay tuned… Contest #1 had a total of 1324 […]
There are more updates on Qatar Airways joining the oneworld alliance. Starting February 23rd, American Airlines and Qatar will begin codesharing on many of their flights, meaning members of the AAdvantage program will be able to earn miles on a substantial number of Qatar flights. For me, the bigger plus will be when I can redeem my AA miles on Qatar, which is still likely a year away. But, at that point, I could fly direct from my home airport of IAD to Qatar’s hub in Doha. Anyway, bottom line […]
