Good SPG Hot Escapes in DC, Dominican and Heathrow On Sale Through June 27, 2015

There’s a new format for Hot Escapes this week. The maps look better, but I find it’s a bit harder to scroll through all the properties.  Net-net, it’s prettier but not more functional.

SPG Hot Escapes are discounts for travel over the next 6 weeks at Starwood Preferred Guest properties worldwide.  They’re released every Wednesday at 6am Eastern time.  You have until Saturday to book them.  The discounts generally range from 15% to 35%, with some rare discounts as high as 50% or 60%. SPG Members get an additional 5% discount (listed in orange under the advertised rate).

There are some luxury properties on the list this week that represent good values, as well as some properties featuring rates that are in “mattress run” territory.  It might seem early in the year to be considering a mattress run, but we are just about at the halfway mark.

Also, when you consider the new Sheraton promotion where you can earn free weekend nights, paying $70 for a mattress run that finishes off the criteria for a free weekend night at a pricey property can be a good strategy.
