Price Drop! Cheap Fares To New Zealand!

It isn’t often we see cheap prices to New Zealand come down the pike.  There aren’t a lot of airlines that fly to and from New Zealand.  That helps keep prices high. Right now there are $700 round-trip fares available.  That’s easily a few hundred dollars cheaper than I normally see.  Keri at Heels First Travel has the details. Essentially, you’ll be able to find these fares for travel through June of next year to Auckland.  Keep in mind that the warm season in New Zealand is effectively the opposite […]

Frontier Airlines Announces A Massive Increase In Service

Frontier Airlines announced a pretty massive expansion of service. Denver is growing in leaps and bounds (21 new destinations), but they’re also adding lots of point-to-point routes as well.

A New Yorker’s Romance With Texas BBQ: My First (But Certainly Not Last) Visit To Lockhart

It’s been a bit over a month since I enjoyed Hard 8 BBQ with my friend Scott.  Good BBQ is something I didn’t start to appreciate until later in life, but I’m definitely here now. Just over a week ago I had a scheduled trip to fly in to Austin.  I had a scheduled lunch before a drive to San Antonio.  Austin is one of those cities where I’ve rarely (maybe never) had a bad meal.  My lunch partners chose a nice restaurant where I enjoyed a great fresh lunch […]

Rumors That Hyatt Has Acquired The Driskill Hotel in Austin

Lots of expansion in the Austin market for Hyatt, it seems.  Earlier this week they opened the Hyatt Place Austin.  I’m generally more of a full service hotel guy, and I’ve enjoyed my stays at Hyatt Regency Austin.  But, the pictures of Hyatt Place Austin look nice  and it seems every time I head to Austin the Hyatt is pretty full.  So, I’m happy to have this alternative. And, it looks like the Driskill Hotel in Austin will be joining the Hyatt family.  While I’ve never stayed at the Driskill, […]

Austin: Hyatt Regency Redux And Some Authentic Texas BBQ

Michelle and I recently took our first extended trip without the kids since our second was born.  We’d taken overnight trips without the kids, but this would be the first trip where we’d sneak away for a long weekend.   We were headed to Austin for a celebration of the 15th anniversary of LIVESTRONG.  And, since it was my wife’s first trip to BBQ country, she wanted some authentic Texas BBQ. This was my second stay at Hyatt Regency Austin.  My first was pretty brief but yielded a nice suite upgrade.  […]

Today Was a Win In The Fight Against Cancer

I’m on my way back from Austin, Texas.  Randy Petersen and I showed up at LIVESTRONG headquarters today to discuss a bigger relationship between Milepoint and LIVESTRONG. We had in tow with us a check for $25,000 from the members of Milepoint.  The meeting went well, and the folks at LIVESTRONG were pretty surprised to see the check. While we were there (as well as shortly after our departure), the good folks at LIVESTRONG were pretty active in social media talking about our donation. ChrisB’s Twitter Pic @jsavalon’s quick thoughts […]
