Cheap Flights To Vegas and Europe And The FAA Wishes The Rams Were Staying In St. Louis

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about  in length.  Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.

Cheap Flights Of The Day: Roughly $100 flights to Las Vegas.  And, super cheap tickets to Europe and Iceland (don’t forget your “fee collar”).

American Airlines is offering status matches to Executive Platinum if you’re a United 1K.  That’s good news for 1K and bad news for EXPs.  There’s already a bloat at the top from the merger with US Airways and bonus EQMs for higher fares will add more top-tier elites.  Now, unhappy United customers can try out American.  I sure hope EXP doesn’t become the new 1K (a service I gave up because of United’s inability to run a proper airline).

Just as quickly as a new carrier announced plans to offer new discount air service to a fairly decent list of Canadian cities, it appears New Leaf has hit the pause button (and in something of an odd fashion).  I almost bought a ticket on them for an upcoming trip.  Guess I won’t be adding New Leaf to my list of airlines flown anytime soon.

The FAA appears to have a problem with where the LA Rams

St. Louis Rams

LA Rams want to build their new stadium.

Has Delta pushed too far at the expense of their most loyal customers?

20% off Gap gift cards and 12% off CVS, not to mention $10 free from Dunkin Donuts.  Mmmm, donuts.

Not sure how I missed this at CES, but darker windows are coming to the Dreamliner.  I’ve flown on the Dreamliner a number of times and the windows have never really bothered me.  Then again, I sleep with an eye mask.  But, even without a mask the cabin is relatively dark (but not pitch black) when the windows are all dimmed.
