American Express has been able to boast some of the best airline lounges in the United States since they opened their first Centurion Lounge in 2013 at Las Vegas-McCarran International Airport. United Airlines continues to cut their Polaris business class service. Maybe they believe customers won’t pay a premium for the extra service. Delta and American have generally been adding benefits, improving their core product. Are they both wrong? Heck, United’s Scott Kirby was a big part of the team that started rolling out Flagship lounges and dining at American. Maybe everyone else is wrong. Or, maybe United’s customers don’t want to pay more for the same shade of lipstick on an older pig.
