Is There Trouble In Ultimate Rewards Land?

For those of us obsessed with interested in the miles and points game, it’s hard to argue with the value of Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  The points transfer to a number of programs on a 1:1 ratio, including: United Airlines British Airways Southwest Airlines Virgin Atlantic Korean Air Hyatt IHG Marriott The two categories of cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points that I personally carry are personal (like Chase Sapphire) and business (Ink Bold and Ink Plus).  These aren’t referral links, just some of my favorite cards. A Nifty New Chase Sapphire Benefit: First Friday

Courtesy of View From The Wing, Chase Sapphire has announced a nifty new benefit.  On the first Friday of each month all dining charges earn 3 points per dollar instead of the normal 2. While there are periodic promos for more miles/points when you dine, they’re generally targeted to specific restaurants, such as through the dining programs the airlines offer.  2 points per dollar can be found elsewhere, such as the Hyatt Visa. 3 points per dollar is especially valuable here since Chase Sapphire is such a solid card, earning […]

And it’s true, I do earn a lot of miles from flying.  I’ll travel somewhere between 150,000 and 200,000 miles this year.  If all those miles earn a 100% bonus (for being a top-tier elite on an airline) […]

Hyatt Copies A Nifty Starwood Feature: A Headstart On Status By Spending On Their Card

If you’re a holder of the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card, you should be familiar with their feature that gives you stay and night credit every year you maintain their card.  You can get 5 nights and 2 stays by holding the SPG Amex, and actually double that if you have both the personal and corporate versions of the card. Now, Hyatt’s version of this benefit is significantly less rewarding.  You need to spend $20,000 on their card to get 2 stays and 5 nights of credit.  If you […]
