Delta made some big changes to their program this morning, but they’re not done. On the negative side, starting in 2015 you’ll accrue miles based on how much you spend on your ticket, not how far you travel. On the positive side, you’ll be able to redeem one-way awards. The airline shopping portals have bumped the earning amount on Apple purchase to 2 miles per dollar. If you were already in the market for Apple products double miles is a nice reward for a couple extra clicks of your mouse.
Franklin BBQ was definitely a rare treat that I likely wouldn’t have gotten to enjoy had it not been for Austin MegaDO 3. While I wasn’t a huge fan of their brisket, the ribs and turkey were outstanding. Combine that with Hecke Vision at the Alamo Ritz Drafhouse and a party at LIVESTRONG headquarters and it was a memorable weekend.
A quick review of Hyatt Place Austin Downtown. Hyatt Place is my favorite limited service brand. This hotel is well located, clean and spacious. The staff was incredibly warm and inviting during my entire visit.
American Airlines is offering a 25% bonus when you transfer hotel points to AAdvantage miles. This is a good opportunity to get some value out of those orphaned hotel points, but I wouldn’t convert large balances unless you’re trying to top up for a specific reward.
