Today I’m emptying my Bilt Rewards account.  My only regret is that I only have 130,000 Bilt Rewards points to transfer.

For one day only Bilt Rewards is partnering up with Hawaiian Airlines to offer the most lucrative transfer bonus I’ve taken advantage of in years (maybe decades).  Today, February 1st, all transfer from Bilt Rewards are not the normal 1:1 ratio.  For every Bilt Rewards Point you transfer you’ll get two HawaiianMiles.  That means I’ll end the day with 260,000 HawaiianMiles.

And, since it’s the first of the month you can also earn big using your Bilt Rewards Mastercard:

  • 6 points per dollar on dining
  • 4 points per dollar on travel
  • 2 points per dollar on everything else (except rent)

You can earn up to 10,000 bonus points each month on Rent Day.

100% Transfer Bonus To Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines has an excellent lie-flat first class product.  They have lots of coverage on the West Coast as well as key cities such as Austin, New York and Boston.

First class awards can be difficult to find in big quantities but are usually available in for a couple of passengers.  And, first class upgrade awards can be an excellent value.  Richard and I talked about it in detail on the podcast last week. Saver award flights are as little as 25,000 HawaiianMiles one-way, or just 12,500 Bilt Rewards Points if you transfer as part of this promotion today.

My hope is to combine some paid tickets using HawaiianMiles to upgrade our family of four, then use the rest of my HawaiianMiles to redeem for a first class award or two.  260,000 miles probably isn’t enough unless I get lucky and score four first class upgrades at that saver award level.  But, this was exactly the motivation I needed to knock one of the remaining three states I haven’t visited off my list.

That’s right, I’ve never been to Hawaii.  It’s a long way from DC to Hawaii and there are very few lie-flat options to get from here to there.  You can bet I’ll be targeting Hawaiian’s Boston or New York service on the A330 with those really great seats for the 10+ hour flight to Hawaii.

Transfer From Bilt Rewards To HawaiianMiles

Transferring was super easy.  I logged into the Bilt Rewards app and linked my HawaiianMiles account in the “Travel” tab.  I started with 130,000+ Bilt Rewards Points, mostly from spending on my Bilt Rewards Mastercard.

It only took a handful of clicks to work through the transfer process:

A minute later, my Bilt Rewards account was nearly empty:

But, my HawaiianMiles account wasn’t!

The Final Two Pennies

If you’ve been saving up your Bilt Rewards points without a clear plan, today is the day you should consider a big transfer.  First class upgrades on Hawaiian are just too good a value at half the normal price to pass on.

It took me five minutes to transfer those points this morning.  Now, the hunt for saver first class upgrade awards begins!

Don’t forget to play the free trivia game in the Bilt app today.  You don’t need the Bilt card, the points are free to earn (and easy to transfer to partners).  Earning a few hundred points here and there really do add up.
