Delta And American Express Have The Best Promo. They’re Giving Away Donuts!!!!

Oh, Delta.  You may just have found a special way into my heart.

You guys know I’m a donut fiend.  My Instagram feed is frequently polluted by those sweet, doughy treats.  I was posting about National Doughnut Day yesterday when the folks from Delta reached out to tell me about a new promotion.  Here’s the funny part.  No less than 5 other people sent me a note about it throughout the day.

Did I mention how much I love what Delta and American Express came up with?????

They call it “Dough-On-The-Go”.  They’ll be handing out free donuts in 7 different cities over the summer:

They’re hitting 9 cities with some top-notch donuts.  All you have to do is show your Delta American Express card to get a free donut for you and a friend.  I’m going to need to borrow a Delta AMEX from someone or find a new friend.

The cities (and donut shops) are:

• Atlanta (Sublime Doughnuts)
• New York (Underwest Donuts)
• Boston (Union Square Donuts)
• Detroit (Daily Dozen Doughnuts)
• Minneapolis (Glam Doll Donuts)
• Raleigh/Durham (Rise Biscuits Donuts)
• Los Angeles (Kettle Glazed Doughnuts)
• Salt Lake City (Banbury Cross Donuts)
• Seattle (Top Pot Doughnuts)

They picked some pretty good donuts shops.  I’ve had the opportunity to try 3 of the ones on this list.  I’ve hit Top Pot in Seattle a few times, although not since I started doing donut blog posts.

Underwest Donuts is a really small donut shop on the West Side of Manhattan, in the shadow of the Intrepid aircraft carrier.  It’s notable for the cool location, if not completely for their donuts.  Underwest holds its own, but there are better donuts to be found in Manhattan.

Banbury Cross in Salt Lake City is another good choice.  I preferred their yeast-raised glazed donuts most of all, with the sprinkled cake donuts being a solid choice as well.

The Final Two Pennies

I’m pretty pumped about this promotion, especially as a donut freak.  I’ve started writing up some of the really good donuts I’ve seen around the country.  There was some really good stuff in Wichita, and Ohio was a pretty darn good stop as well.  Donuts have been a passion of mine for quite some time.  I still lean towards more traditional spots, which Delta and AMEX have done a good job representing on this list.

Gotta go get me some Delta Dough!
