Cheap Flights To Rome And Hyatt Gift Card Discounts!
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
Here’s what I’m reading about today:
Cheap Flights of The Day: Uh, where to start? There was the Delta fare this morning to Milan (gone now). Cheap Flights To Rome? The airberlin $550 flights to Rome are still available and that’s a sick deal to one of my favorite cities. And, JetBlue is having another pretty good sale as well.
InsideFlyer Thread of The Day: Looking for strategies on how to pay your mortgage and earn miles?

The new on-airport hotel at San Francisco Airport is going to be a Grand Hyatt, so says Chris McGinnis:
Maximize your miles even with big changes to airlines and hotels. Stephanie Rosenbloom has some good tips/reminders on how to keep earning even in the face of big changes at American and Marriott/SPG.
Get $10 back on a $50 Hyatt gift card purchase, and earn 10X on it as well!
Speaking of Hyatt, big auction of Hyatt rooms for charity. There could be some good values here.
Delta ending more friendships, ahem, with other airlines (making it harder for passengers).
Wait, what? Delta wants how much to buy up for status at the end of the year?
Hilton appears to have struck a strong deal in their favor with the OTAs. Which likely means less profit for the OTAs unless they can wring out more profits from unsuspecting customers at other hotels.
American Airlines rolled out the last in the heritage series of jets, AirCal. I’m partial to the TWA plane, myself.
