The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about  in length.  Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.

Here’s what I’m reading about today:

Speaking of Hyatt, big auction of Hyatt rooms for charity.  There could be some good values here.

Delta ending more friendships, ahem, with other airlines (making it harder for passengers).

Wait, what?  Delta wants how much to buy up for status at the end of the year?

Hilton appears to have struck a strong deal in their favor with the OTAs.  Which likely means less profit for the OTAs unless they can wring out more profits from unsuspecting customers at other hotels.

American Airlines rolled out the last in the heritage series of jets, AirCal.  I’m partial to the TWA plane, myself.
