Cheap Fares on JetBlue, $15 discounts at Amazon and Increased Credit Card Sign-Up Bonuses

a camera and map of the world

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about  in length.  Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.

Here’s what I’m reading about today:

Cheap Flights of The Day:  A decent JetBlue fare sale ends tonight.  $156 to visit the mouse from NYC.  Sub-$500 fares to Rio.

If you’re thinking of applying for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, Frequent Miler says you should hold off just a bit as the sign-up bonus will likely increase shortly.

Okay, I had to chuckle a bit (like a 15-year old boy) at the double entendre in this blog post title.

An easy $15 discount at Amazon if you have an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points.

The news that American Airlines is building a new HQ next to DFW isn’t why I’m sharing this piece.  It’s the comments.  Take a minute.

A trip report to the North Pole!

United Airlines is rolling out a new compensation program after largely telling customers to pound sand the last 3 years or so.  $100 in free flight credit still doesn’t make up for the hot mess the airline is right now.  This is good news for leisure travelers, but I still strongly prefer arriving on time in a plane that’s not broken.

This story from One Mile at a Time reinforces that the only people who are going to advocate on your behalf while traveling are staring back at you in the mirror.

A $15 statement credit for Chase Freedom cardholders.
