What’s In My Backpack? The Best Sleep Mask
Over the course of years of travel and hundreds of trips, I’ve used countless items to make travel easier. Some of those items were complete flops, but over the years I’ve assembled a pretty good group of go-to gadgets in my backpack. Here’s another look at some of my favorite gadgets and travel-related items.
Previous items I’ve written about:
Next up is my favorite sleep mask, the Bucky 40 Blinks. Nearest I can recall, I found this mask the first time at DTW about 8 or 9 years ago. I lost it on a plane at some point and then found it on a blog (Wandering Aramean’s, I believe).
The mask covers the eyes completely and has very deep eye pockets.
One of the other things I really like about this eye mask is the velcro adjustment on the back. That, along with a wide, soft strap make it less likely to mess up your hair. It stays firmly in place for me when sitting up or laying down. It’s compact and can be rolled up, taking up almost no space in my backpack. It’s nowhere near the most high-tech thing in my backpack, but it’s essential for my travel.
They come in a variety of colors. I’m just fine with the plain old black ones, but you can get pretty, um, colorful.
This link to the eye mask on Amazon and the other link above are referral links for me, which means I earn a small referral credit if you buy the mask from Amazon. The mask costs about $10, and that’s pretty much the cheapest price around, especially if you qualify for free shipping for Amazon purchases. Well worth it if you’re in the market.

Yes to the flower pattern!
Mack’s makes almost the same thing – except without the velcro straps, available also at Amazon, $5.00 ea:

Erndog, the velcro is a big part of why I like the mask, since I never can find one that fits quite right.
This is a very nice mask. I have tried almost a dozen masks in the past year and this is my favorite. This mask blocks light completely and makes my sleep comfortable during my travel.
