A Few Mileage Opportunities For Purchases You Might Be Able To Take Advantage Of

For those that don’t spend 30% of their life on airplanes, the various shopping malls run by the airlines can be a great way to accumulate miles.  Generally speaking, you can buy pretty much anything you need through one of the malls at the merchant you want. For example, earn miles for all your Amazon purchases through Hawaiian airlines.

My go-to portal is the AAdvantage shopping portal.  I like it for ease of use, plus I generally prefer AA for my travel. Plus, they currently have a promotion going where you can win 100,000 miles.

A few offers popped up in my e-mail box lately that may strike you as a good value.

If you’re a Starbucks junkie, order the new Verismo machine and get 3 miles/dollar for that purchase from AAdvantage.

And, if you’re a fan of PF Chang’s (I am), you can earn 2 miles/dollar spent when you dine there if you register your cards on the AAdvantage portal through the end of the year.  The normal earning rate is 1 mile/dollar, so this is a nice bump if you were already planning on dining there.

A fan of the deal sites like Groupon and Living Social?  Get 2 miles for Groupon and 3 miles for Living Social.

The shopping portals are a great way to pump up your mileage balance without having to leave the comfort of your home or office.  Those miles are just as valid as flight miles to get you to that once-in-a-lifetime destination for free.
