Where Are You Going On Vacation This Summer?

I would guess that most people think of the start of summer as whenever their kids are done with school.  Or, if you’re a kid, then it’s definitely when you’re done.  Since my wife is a school teacher (well, until August anyway), that’s always been the start of summer for her.

For me as an adult, summer never really felt like it was here until the 4th of July rolled around.  Getting stuck on a plane in June thunderstorms can sometimes evoke the feeling of summer as well. 🙂

As I was setting up the fireworks outside for our daughter, I started to think of where this summer will take us.  Since our son is still a bit less than 2 years old (and not quite as good a traveler as Catherine) we’ve decided to keep the plane rides short.  So far, this is what we have scheduled:

Hershey Park

Deep Creek, Maryland

Halifax, NS (to visit family)

Toronto

Niagara Falls

We’ll be taking the relatively short drive for Hershey and Deep Creek and hopping on planes for the rest, with the hopes of swinging a quick “no kids” trip at some point for Michelle and I.

Where are your travels taking you this summer?

My goal in life is to fill my family’s passports with stamps, creating buckets of memories along the way. You’ll find me writing about realistic ways for normal people to travel the world, whether you’re on a budget or enjoy luxury. I also enjoy taking us on the occasional detour to explore the inner workings of the travel industry.
