Starwood Preferred Guest has announced their 2014 award category changes. Most of the negative impact is in North America while folks in Asia will see lots of properties with cheaper award nights.
Today is the last day to vote for your favorite picture and help someone win a free airline ticket. Finding a great low fare that everyone doesn’t know about is one of the toughest things to do if you don’t obsess about travel like I do. There are plenty of hidden places to find them, but by nature they’re not easy to find, organized in one place. For those that are familiar with Starwood Preferred Guest, you may have been a fan of either Starpicks or Beat the Timer. These […]
I received an e-mail today from Starwood Preferred Guest touting a new benefit, discounts at restaurants and bars. The website is really not very explanatory at all, and when I did some random searches in the US, only 5 restaurants come up: What I came to find is that if you typed in a non-specific city (Leesburg, VA if you will) or someplace where there’s no property, the website defaults to Los Angeles properties. For that matter, a search of “New York City” yielded the same 5 LA properties, but […]
The Westin was our final stop in our trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls. We stayed at the Sheraton Centre Toronto first. And, finally, on our way out the door was a goodie bag. Pictures and brief descriptions below. If you see something you like, leave a comment on the blog and I’ll send it your way! First, there was a hardcover book featuring pictures of some of the best SPG resorts in the world. Having […]
One of the many new benefits of the Starwood Preferred Guest program is that award stays count towards earning elite status on a yearly basis AND count towards lifetime status. Since I hadn’t yet re-qualified for Platinum this year and still need about 200 nights to achieve lifetime Platinum, I made the decision to burn a bunch of Starpoints this summer for award stays. There were no Cash & Point stays available (which is one of the truly best values), but I was able to find rooms at all our […]
