What Credit Card Should I Use For Hyatt Stays During Their Summer Promo?

FROM THE COMMENTS BELOW, Gary brings up the point that I don’t actually have to use a Hyatt Visa to get the 20% bonus, which changes a bunch of the math.  After reviewing the T&C, it doesn’t actually state any requirement to pay with the Hyatt Visa card.  In fact, the regular T&C don’t even mention the Hyatt Visa at all.  Under a separate T&C specifically just for credit card holders, the issue is addressed as follows: HYATT CREDIT CARD BONUS: During the Promotion Period, registered Hyatt Gold Passport members […]

So, how does this stack up against current promos by other chains past Hyatt promos?  Here’s a brief summary of Hyatt’s 2012 Fall Promo: Fall Hyatt Promo:  Guests earned 5,000 points after 5 nights, and an additional 10,000 points for each […]

Maybe Not All Bad News For Points Junkies At Office Depot

While I was watching TV last night with my wife I happened upon a post by Mommy Points that changed my schedule around a bit today.  She was reporting that it seemed variable amount gift cards were disappearing from Office Depot, at least in some denominations.  That’s a bummer for me as I do purchase these gift cards using my Ink Bold card for a number of different purposes. For those new to the miles and points game, Ink Bold offers 5 points for every dollar you spend at office […]

Citi Platinum Select/AAdvantage World MasterCard Sign-Up Bonus Dropping to 30,000 Miles?

Now that I’ve switched the majority of travel back to American Airlines I’m spending a lot more time on the AA website.  Over the past few weeks I’ve noted the 40,000 mile sign-up offers for the Citi Platinum Select/AAdvantage World MasterCard in the margin alongside the booking engine, along with a $125 statement credit: Someone asked me recently if the card was worth it.  I didn’t recall seeing the $125 statement credit until recently, so I went to check out all the benefits so I could render my opinion.  You […]

Free Advice Is Sometimes Worth What You Pay For It

There’s no question that the frequent travel game has changed drastically over the years.  The value of certain perks has diminished based on the lack of availability (such as award seats on more crowded planes).  But, all in all, I still think it’s a very lucrative game to play. That’s why I (mostly) disagree with Joe Brancatelli on one of his recent articles, even though I regard Joe as a pretty smart guy. He wrote this article about purchasing your benefits instead of flying to earn them.  And I disagree […]

Hyatt Copies A Nifty Starwood Feature: A Headstart On Status By Spending On Their Card

If you’re a holder of the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card, you should be familiar with their feature that gives you stay and night credit every year you maintain their card.  You can get 5 nights and 2 stays by holding the SPG Amex, and actually double that if you have both the personal and corporate versions of the card. Now, Hyatt’s version of this benefit is significantly less rewarding.  You need to spend $20,000 on their card to get 2 stays and 5 nights of credit.  If you […]
