Don’t Forget To Use Up Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrades

It’s that time of year again, where your Hyatt Diamond suite upgrades are expiring on February 28th.  If you renewed your Diamond status for 2015, you’ll get new ones on March 1st.  But, if you haven’t had the chance to use up the ones you received in 2014, you can apply them to a reservation for a date past February 28th (if you cancel the reservation you’ll lose the upgrade). They are the best upgrade instruments in the hotel industry.  I’ve used mine every year for awesome upgrades at some […]

Some Delta Members Getting Transcon Upgrades, Bonus Miles on American to Asia, A Great Points Transfer List. Things I Find Interesting On Thursday, June 26th, 2014

Hyatt has released an update to their iPhone app with lots of increase functionality.  Hyatt has been way behind the curve on the reliability of their technology and on feature enhancements.  This update takes care of some welcome feature enhancements but we’ll need a bit more time to see if this improves the reliability and functionality. Hyatt Jumps Into Daily Getaways In A Big Way

For those that don’t know, Daily Getaways are an annual program that the US Travel Association and American Express team up on each year with a variety of travel providers.  There are a number of good opportunities and a few great ones.  I’ve already dipped into the well with some deeply discounted Busch Gardens tickets for an upcoming family trip.  Other examples of previous offers this year were the 20% discount on Marriott gift cards.  All offers get an additional 10% discount when you pay with an American Express card so […]

Hyatt Expanding Again, In Asia And Central America

2 quick tidbits expanding the Hyatt network: Park Hyatt Busan has opened marking the second Park Hyatt in South Korea and the 10th in Asia.  I’m a huge fan of the Park Hyatt brand.  The Park Hyatt Tokyo is a favorite of mine.  I’m always happy to see another Park Hyatt pop up.  This property appears to be entering the program as a Category 4, which means 15,000 Gold Passport points per night. Hyatt has also announced development of two new properties in Panama, a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House. […]

Wrapping Up Hotel Status At The End of 2012

Well, almost.  I still have two stays with SPG to post, though I doubt one will post by the end of the year, as I detailed here. As the year comes to a close, I’m taking time to summarize my year in travel as it relates to earning points and status.  I also have an update on lifetime status planned along with my thoughts for next year.  A lot of this is just mental housekeeping for me, but some may find it interesting as they plan where and how to […]

41 Hours in Tokyo: Park Hyatt Tokyo

Previous posts about my brief trip to Tokyo: Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tsukiji Fish Market Sushi and Beer at 6am Walking Around Tokyo Walking Around Tokyo Part 2 My second night in Tokyo was at the Park Hyatt, located at the top of Shinjuku Park Tower.  I had heard great things about the properties from friends and was really looking forward to it.  I was not to be disappointed. I had used one of the free suite nights I received from my signup for the Hyatt Visa Card.  Gary Leff of View From […]
