Mileage Run vs. Ignorance. Ignorance Wins! I Heart Choice Plus Fares

I’d say I do this at least once every two years, maybe as frequently as once a year.  Be honest, after you’ve read my recap, have you ever done the same? I had a mileage run scheduled for today.  I was running behind on re-qualification for American Airlines Executive Platinum status, the status I covet most.  So, I booked a quick same-day turnaround from IAD to LAX and back.  I was leaving around 10am, would be back at 10pm and would have wifi the whole day so plenty of time […]

81 Hours In Europe: A Ride On The New 777-300ER From JFK To LHR

Previous Posts: A Running Start At Oslo And Copenhagen The continuation of Day 1 saw me boarding a flight from JFK to London Heathrow airport.  I was especially looking forward to this flight because it would be my first on American’s new 777-300ER.  American Airlines debuted this plane and it’s new lie-flat business class seats earlier this year and I’ve been looking forward to an opportunity to fly it. The unfortunate part was that I would be on a red-eye to London.  Most people who don’t fly frequently think of […]

Ethiopian Airlines Publicly Announces 787 Fire is Not Flight Safety Related

A bit of an odd announcement today, with Ethiopian saying that the accident had nothing to do with flight safety. The fire on an unoccupied Ethiopian Airlines 787 Dreamliner at London’s Heathrow Airport on Friday was “not related to flight safety,” the carrier said Saturday. In an emailed statement Saturday in response to questions from The Wall Street Journal, Ethiopian Airlines also said it hasn’t grounded its three otherBoeing Co. BA -4.69% Dreamliners following the incident. The article goes on to say that an unnamed source is indicating a rear galley is the primary […]
