Want to sleep in a hotel suite that will only be occupied for one night? Just for the Super Bowl, with you as the only occupant. That sounds pretty cool to me.
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
I had one of my best point redemptions of all time last year when I redeemed a trunk load of Starwood Preferred Guest points for a tennis lesson with Andre Agassi at the US Open. My wife was the lucky participant and we had an awesome experience. I got some video at the event but it was pretty bad. While I was investigating a new SPG Moments auction earlier today I found a link to a video that shows Andre giving my wife (in green, looking awesome) a quick lesson […]
Last week I threw my two cents in on Starwood Preferred Guest’s year-end summary of what members did throughout the year. But, while reviewing LoyaltyLobby today, I noticed he reported on a customized page SPG programmed that allows each member to see interesting facts about their own experiences with SPG. So, I decided to take a tour through my personal stats. First, let me say that I think this was a fun exercise SPG undertook and I don’t mean to sound overly critical. Based on a quick glance, I’m assuming […]
Starwood Preferred Guest has released it’s year-end summary of fun facts about how members interacted with their program in 2012. I remember them doing this last year, but I don’t remember some of the number being quite so eye-popping. The top-earning member from hotel stays earned almost 1 million Starpoints. I’d really love the back story on some of these. I assume this person had a large conference (or number of conferences), since earning that type of balance just from room stays would mean a heck of a lot of […]
I’ve heard frequently from others about the Andaz 5th for a few years now. Gary of View From The Wing swears by the property as his go-to in NYC and has written about it numerous times. I’ve had my fair share of stays in Manhattan, and consider Hyatt to be my go-to chain there. I’ve written about my first stay at Hyatt 48Lex, which I definitely enjoyed. I also chronicled my thoughts on the newly renovated Grand Hyatt located at Grand Central. I’ve also enjoyed a few stays at the […]
