Hyatt Offering Free COVID Testing At All Latin America Resorts

Hyatt just announced that all of their resorts in Latin America will be providing free COVID-19 testing for guests as well as discounted room rates if you get stuck due to testing delays or a positive test result.  This covers 19 properties in Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean and South America.  This is almost certainly in response to the recent US regulation that requires a negative COVID-19 test to enter the US for all international travelers (including US citizens). This offer covers up to two complimentary COVID-19 tests per guestroom […]

Two New Dots On The Domestic US Hyatt Map

Hyatt has been doing a ton of development overseas, with a very rich pipeline.  But, the US hasn’t seen nearly the same level of development.  Hyatt lacks properties in some key markets, where in others it lacks “depth of brand”, offering only one or two of their brands in a major market. The two new additions are in markets they already have properties but could definitely use another. First, the Denver market is getting a new Hyatt property that is unique while adding some well-known labels to the market.  Hyatt […]

Hyatt News: New Brands, New Locations

There were a couple of interesting tidbits yesterday about one of my favorite hotel chains, Hyatt. First, they announced a new brand coming to the Hyatt family. Centric is to debut this year with properties in both the US and abroad. As others have noted, creating a new lifestyle brand seems a bit out of sorts considering the brands Hyatt already has in their portfolio. I’m guessing that market research showed them there was a segment that wasn’t addressed. On the flip side, it may be that there’s a larger […]

Andaz Peninsula Papagayo In Costa Rica Opens Their Doors

One of the reasons Hyatt is tops on my list of hotel chains is because they keep opening compelling new properties.  You’ve got some great new urban properties.  For example, we really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Union Square.  There are solid initial reports about Hyatt Times Square as well. For more luxurious destinations, Hyatt launched all-inclusive properties focused on adults only (check out Heels First Travel’s look at Hyatt Zilara Cancun) and families (website for Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos).  Not to be forgotten is Andaz Maui. And now, Andaz Peninsula Papagayo has […]

Hyatt Filling In Two More Areas On The Map

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a free Briggs & Riley TORQ suitcase! Hyatt is dropping two more pins on the map in places where they’re currently a bit under served. First up, construction is under way for a new Hyatt House in downtown Salt Lake City. Hyatt has a few properties in Utah but only one downtown, a Hyatt Place. I’d rather see a full-service property like a Hyatt Regency, but I’m glad to see more presence in downtown. Limited service/extended stay is an area I think Hyatt […]

Andaz 5th Avenue NYC Review

I’ve heard frequently from others about the Andaz 5th for a few years now.  Gary of View From The Wing swears by the property as his go-to in NYC and has written about it numerous times. I’ve had my fair share of stays in Manhattan, and consider Hyatt to be my go-to chain there. I’ve written about my first stay at Hyatt 48Lex, which I definitely enjoyed. I also chronicled my thoughts on the newly renovated Grand Hyatt located at Grand Central. I’ve also enjoyed a few stays at the […]

Review: Grand Hyatt New York

I had another one night stay in NYC this past week, so I decided to try the Grand Hyatt New York.  This property has gotten some bad reviews over the last few years but it had recently completed a renovation so I wanted to see how it turned out. I had been in the lobby recently, but had forgotten about the somewhat bizarre head statues. It was after midnight when I checked in, so I didn’t want to hang around the lobby too long.  There was actually a line to […]
