Hyatt Adds 100 Leisure Hotels With More On The Way

Hyatt announced earlier this week that they were acquiring Apple Leisure Group. The move will add 100 existing hotels to the Hyatt family and another couple dozen that are in the pipeline for Apple (ALG). Here’s a quick description of ALG from the press release: ALG’s hotel portfolio consists of over 33,000 rooms operating in 10 countries. The portfolio has grown from nine resorts in 2007 to approximately 100 properties by the end of 2021 and has a pipeline of 24 executed deals with a large number of additional hotels […]

Targeted Awesome Offer, 1,000 Bonus AAdvantage Miles For Each Night At Hyatt!

As we start to return to travel after what seems to be the worst of the pandemic, travel companies are starting to flex their ability to encourage customers to travel.  Early on, though prices were low we didn’t see too many promotions.  That was probably an indication that airlines and hotels didn’t think they could convince people to get out there and book a trip.  We’ve actually seen fewer incentives than I would have expected so far.  Low prices are certainly an incentive, but I don’t think that alone is […]

Quick Reminder: 50 Transactions On Your World of Hyatt Card By Tomorrow

If you’re a World of Hyatt credit card holder and you registered for the February promotion to earn up to 5,000 bonus points you have until tomorrow to get your 50 transactions. There’s not a whole lot of restrictions on what the transactions can be. They do need to be at least $1 each, but in theory could be multiple transactions at the same store if you’re really close to one of these point thresholds.  Because the Hyatt award chart doesn’t stretch nearly as high as Hilton or Marriott 5,000 […]

Great For Families! Hyatt Residence Club Adding 9 Properties

Most hotels that are good for families are also good for other types of travelers.  With the exception of people looking for a secluded, romantic getaway at a boutique hotel, most hotels in vacation destinations meet the needs of most travelers.  Families usually have unique needs such as extra space, multiple bathrooms and connecting rooms.  That’s where properties like Hyatt Residence Clubs come in. Hyatt Residence Club is a small collection of vacation ownership (timeshare) properties.  What’s fairly unique is that these properties can also be booked using Hyatt points.  […]

Hyatt Cuts Their Elite Status Requirements For 2021 In Half

Boy, did the internet have some drama when Hyatt made this announcement last week.  But, I’m getting ahead of myself.  We’re getting to the end of 2020 and we’re also creeping closer to a vaccine.  That means travel brands are starting to think about how to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.  Hilton jumped out in the lead amongst hotel brands when they chopped elite qualification requirements in half.  That was over a month ago, and I had expected we would already have seen other big brands jump in.  With […]

Hyatt Announces (Mostly) Customer-Friendly Extensions And Changes

Hyatt has announced some more changes and extensions to key benefits that should benefit most travelers.  In light of the virtually unprecedented financial impact of COVID-19, travel brands have had to quickly adapt.  Back in April, Hyatt moved to extend elite status and other key benefits such as free night awards.  At that point, nobody was really sure when travel would rebound.  The big chains made the decision to wave the white flag on getting loyalty members to qualify for status in 2020.  Now, Hyatt is tweaking a few things […]

Hyatt Offering Up To A 25% Discount On Award Stays And Free Parking Until October

This may be the turning point where we start to see really meaningful offers from travel companies looking to motivate us to start traveling.  Early on in the COVID-19 crisis the scramble was to confirm to customers that their elite status would be extended.  Brands like Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, American, Delta and United made announcements to put customers at ease.  There were also some early offers of shortcuts to higher status levels to try to spur customers to travel more.  Marriott even introduced a pretty lucrative discount on gift cards […]
