Bilt Rewards announced their first Rent Day promotion of 2024, and it’s pretty darn awesome.  If you liked previous Rent Day promotions in 2023 you’re going to like what’s on offer for January.  My biggest quandary right now is that I didn’t put enough spending on my Bilt Mastercard for all the transfers I want to do this month.

Up To 150% Transfer Bonuses For January Rent Day

Bilt Rewards is launching transfer bonuses with three partners this month, Virgin Atlantic, AirFrance/KLM FlyingBlue and IHG One Rewards.  Your level of elite status in the Bilt Rewards program dictates what your transfer bonus for each of these partners:

a table with numbers and a number of pointsWhile I won’t be transferring points to IHG One Rewards, I think the Virgin Atlantic and FlyingBlue offers are going to be a tough decision for me.  I took advantage of the FlyingBlue 100% transfer bonus earlier in the year and thought it was pretty incredible at the time.  Now, they’ve increased that offer to 150% for Platinum members like me.  On top of that they’re bringing back the Virgin Atlantic 150% transfer bonus that made me start thinking differently about which credit cards I use for spending.

I wrote last month that if Bilt was going to continue to offer 150% transfer bonuses it may make sense for me to put everyday (un-bonused) spending on the Bilt card.  The great offer on the Chase Freedom card to double all points earning for the first year certainly rivals a 150% transfer bonus but these sizable transfer bonuses really should make you do the math on what works best for you.

For now, you have a few days to decide whether you want to transfer to one of these three partners with some pretty sweet bonuses.  Or, you might hold out for something better later in the year.

Free $5 Lyft Credit And Amazon Bonus

If you have your Bilt Rewards account linked to Lyft on January 1st you’ll find a tab in the app to activate a free $5 credit on a future Lyft ride.  The credit is good for 90 days.

If you choose to use your Bilt Rewards points to shop with Amazon (please don’t) you’ll get a 50% bonus on January 1st.

All The Rest Of Rent Day

Bilt also has a number of offers on the first of each month to earn points. Most of them only require you to sign-up for a free Bilt Rewards membership.  There are trivia questions in the Bilt app where you can earn free points as well as their game show-style contest, Rent Free where you can earn one month’s free rent.

For folks who hold the credit card, this is your reminder that you can earn double points on all categories (except rent) on the first day of every month (capped at 10,000 bonus points per month).  That means you’ll earn:

  • 6 points per dollar on dining
  • 4 points per dollar on travel
  • 2 points per dollar on everything else (except rent)

You can also grab a free Soulcycle class on December 1st at more than 50 Soulcycle studios across the US.  Reservations are available in the Bilt app starting on December 29th, 2023 at noon ET.

The Final Two Pennies

What an incredible Rent Day offer to start 2024!  Multiple choices for massive transfer bonuses.  If you read my piece yesterday, there are some open questions right now about Bilt Rewards elite status in 2024.  For many folks it will take a bit more effort to earn Bilt Rewards elite status in 2024.  This first Rent Day promotion of the year reinforces the value proposition that Bilt continues to offer.

Will you be shooting for Bilt Rewards elite status in 2024?
