Each week, we cover some of the most interesting stories on BoardingArea of the week on the NowBoarding podcast. This week, we covered five stories that should help you get the most out of your travel.
Alaska Airlines has added El Al Airlines as a partner. Details are still a bit thin on what award redemptions will look like, but more ways to redeem our miles is generally better.
The partnership between Hyatt and American Airlines has launched. Members in both programs have opportunities to double dip on points earned with both programs as well as status match and challenge offers. This one has plenty of value for lots of folks with no cost. Definitely something to sign up for if you have elite status in either program.
Chase Ultimate Rewards had some disappointing changes when they made a recent transition, eliminating popular options like redemptions for Disney tickets and using points to book Southwest Airlines flights. Chase has restored the ability to redeem UR points for Southwest Airline tickets.
Haneda Airport is a more desirable airport in Tokyo. It’s closer to downtown Tokyo and has better connecting flow than Narita. Now, US carriers are going to get 12 more daily slots with reasonable arrival times. In some cases, airlines will move flights from Narita to Haneda. In other cases, these will be additional routes to Tokyo. That means we may see some good opportunities to redeem miles for flights to one of the great cities, and points beyond in Asia.
If you’ve got a Venmo account there’s an easy opportunity to earn $20.
A big thanks to Jon from No Mas Coach for co-hosting with me this week.
