Marriott Launched Their Fall Promotion. I Yawned

Marriott launched their fall promotion, using the previous MegaBonus title again for this new promotion:

Yes, MegaBonus is in more places.  Just don’t confuse that with being more rewarding.  Or Mega.

The Gritty Details

You have two ways to earn:

  • Earn 2,000 bonus points per stay of two or more nights.
  • Earn 1,000 bonus points for each brand you stay at, starting with your second brand.

As always, you need to register for the promotion.

And, there’s some sort of game they’ll be launching in October.

The Final Two Pennies

Maybe I’m just in a bad mood this morning.  But, this promotion is not one to chase.  If you have stays you’re already planning at Marriott and SPG properties, you may pick up some bonus points.  The 1,000 point bonus per brand (about 300 Starpoints) doesn’t increase with the number of brands you stay at.  That doesn’t really give much incentive to try out different brands.

Think about it this way.  Take a look at the new Marriott Rewards chart.  If you had 20 2-night stays during this promotion period, all of which were at different brands, you could afford a one-night award stay at the Walt Disney World Dolphin or Swan after the steep increase in award redemption pricing that property took with the changes.

You should absolutely register for the promotion.  Because, it’s free to do.  That about sums it up.

  1. Ed Pizza – I think your math at the end is forgetting the points you would also earn from spend. This promotion is for bonus points, above and beyond what you would normally earn. So…maybe it is only 15 nights to get that one free at the Swan/Dolphin? 🙂

  2. Link doesn’t work for me, doesn’t show up under available promotions either. Is this targeted? Anyone else getting an error message?
