Fare Deal! Cheap Flights To China!

a city with a river and a tower

Cheap flights to China come along less often than European fare sales.  There are a ton of low-cost carriers that fly between the US and Europe.  But, there really aren’t any serving the US-Asia market.  That’s why sub-$500 tickets to China are kind of a big deal.

I’m seeing lots of availability for $442 round-trip to Shanghai.  Originally, I thought this was a deal just from Phoenix based on a Flight Deal post.

However, I saw an update on The Points Guy that shows this is available from a ton of cities:

  • Boston
  • Hartford
  • Orlando
  • Chicago-O’Hare
  • Las Vegas
  • Phoenix
  • San Diego
  • Los Angeles

And, it’s airlines from all 3 alliances (American, Delta and United).

The Final Two Pennies

You won’t find discounted tickets to China as frequently.  It’s also worth noting that you shouldn’t think of these as cheap flights to Shanghai.  There are plenty of low-cost carriers to get around Asia.  And, if you have a stash of miles, you should be able to find your way to one of the US cities where the discount fares are available.  You might even be able to find a cheap Frontier or Spirit flight to position yourself.  Keep in mind that any flight originating or ending in the US comes with a 24-hour cancellation period after you buy it.  So, if you’re on the fence, consider booking now and canceling within 24 hours.

Happy Hunting!
