Delta Gift Cards Popped Up At My Office Depot
I’ve been known to buy a gift card or two in my day. It’s probably just a rumor that all the employees at my local Office Depot know me by name. And they definitely haven’t memorized my loyalty card number just yet.
I make it a habit to scan the gift card racks for new arrivals. It’s part of my strategy to maximize mileage earning. In this case, I’m generally using my Chase Ink credit cards to earn 5X points at office supply stores. I use these cards pretty heavily for regular business expenses as well, but 5X at office supply stores is one of my favorite deals.
I was surprised to see a new travel related gift card at my local Office Depot this week.
There used to be more Verizon cards and another row of Game Stop cards. Instead, there are now $50 and $100 denomination Delta Air Lines gift cards. I don’t make it a habit of flying Delta but I’ve definitely bought my fair share of Southwest gift cards from Office Depot and Staples. I do end up flying some of my employees on Delta occasionally, so I’m happy to have a 5X option for those expenses in the future.
This is the first time I’m seeing Delta gift cards at an office supply store.
They’ve been in Kroger stores for the last couple of weeks or so, but nowhere near the donuts so easy to miss.
John, I don’t currently carry a card that has a bonus for groceries, but good to know for my readers. Thx!
Kroger sometimes has Hyatt cards, too, but those should be approached carefully these days. And the donuts aren’t anything special, either.
John, have you gotten hacked Hyatt cards direct from a retailer? I know there are a bunch that have been hacked lately from secondary sources but I haven’t personally run into any that have been hacked. I’d have to be pretty desperate for Kroger donuts.
Hi Ed. I didn’t have any trouble with cards I got from Hyatt a couple of years ago through Milepoint/ Inside Flyer. I only bought a couple of cards from Kroger, maybe a year ago, and used them right away, so no problems there, either. I believe I’ve read of other people having issues with cards directly from Hyatt since then, though, along with cards through other sources. I don’t know how much hacking is still going on, but it seems that Hyatt has been good about dealing with problems if they are notified. And there might have been some Delta cards, along with Hyatt, at Lowes a few days ago, but I was there for something else and wasn’t paying too much attention. I’ll look harder next time I’m in there.
John, I’ve heard a lot of folks that were getting hacked in the past but the reports seemed to have calmed down.

How many gc or amount of money on gc can you use to pay for a Delta ticket? Is there a limit?
I don’t think there’s a limit, but you can only use 3 forms of payment. So up to 3 gift cards, or 2 gift cards and your credit cards, etc.
Thanks, Jonathon. That makes sense. Southwest is the same way with their number of payment types.

No Delta gift cards at the closest Office Depot, but that store’s gift card selection has never been great. Lowes does indeed have Delta, Hyatt, Southwest, and a bunch of others. Very limited donut selection at both places, though.
John, no donuts at Office Depot???? I do think the Delta thing is new for Office Depot. I hit up a handful of Office Depots around the country and haven’t seen them anywhere yet other than this one.
