Earn 500 Hyatt Gold Passport Points On 1-Day AVIS Rental
A new promotion may make sense for folks who have short car rentals to earn Hyatt Gold Passport points:
You earn 500 Gold Passport points regardless of the length of rental, so I’d only recommend this for short rentals (1-2 days). There are likely better offers out there for longer rentals.
Where you used to be able to earn miles/points with a wide variety of airlines and hotels, things have changed a bit. United has since departed on a path where they’re focusing on the Hertz family of brands for mileage earning opportunities. Some of those offers can be very lucrative, with a recent (expired) promo that allowed renters to earn up to 2,750 United Mileage Plus miles.
I don’t see many promos where folks can earn Hyatt Gold Passport points for car rentals, so that’s why I decided to put a quick post together. I value Gold passport points somewhere between 1.5 and 1.75 cents each, which means this is likely only a good value if you have a 1-day rental with Avis.
It’s important to note that these discount codes don’t always offer the lowest rate, despite the claim of 25% off. Be sure to check the rate without these codes to make sure you’re not paying more for the points.
The T&C are on the offer page, but here’s a quick snippet of some of the more important parts:
- Hyatt Gold Passport points offer valid on a minimum qualifying rental of 1 or more consecutive days.
- Hyatt Gold Passport points are only valid at participating Avis locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
- Avis Preferred members must mention a valid Hyatt Gold Passport number at time of reservation or at time of rental to receive Hyatt Gold Passport points.
- All other rentals require the mention of Hyatt Gold Passport number at time of rental to receive Hyatt Gold Passport points.
- Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for Hyatt Gold Passport points to post to the Hyatt Gold Passport member’s account.
- An advance reservation is required.
- Coupon MUHA071 must be used to get $25 off base rates on a 5+ day weekly rental. Coupon valid on an intermediate (group C) and above, excluding car group X. Dollars off applies to the time and mileage charges only on a minimum five, maximum 28 consecutive-day weekly rental period.

Dollars off applies to the time and mileage charges only on a minimum three day weekend rental. A Saturday night keep is required.
- Coupon MUHA068 must be used to get $10 off base rates on a 2-day weekend rental. Coupon valid on an intermediate (group C) through a full-size four-door (group E) car. Dollars off applies to the time and mileage charges only on a minimum two day weekend rental. A Saturday night keep is required.
