$50 Off At Orbitz, Fly The New A350 & 2,000 Bonus Points From IHG

a camera and map of the world

The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about  in length.  Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others.   This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.  Today’s list is a little longer than normal since I’ve been wrapping up a Disney trip with the family.

Here’s what I’m reading about today:

Cheap Flights of The Day: A really good price to Vancouver.  Such a beautiful city.

Inside Flyer Thread of The Day: Not a thread, per se.  But, make sure you register for our 12 days of Christmas giveaway.  If you haven’t yet, you already missed a chance to win a $250 Silvercar gift card.

$50 off a $100 Orbitz reservation!

Japan Airlines has one of the best tools for searching oneworld alliance award availability.  So, why don’t they want folks from the US using it?

Southwest is adding the technical ability to sell first class and assign seats.  But, they promise they won’t do it.

Remember those 747s I wrote about last week that didn’t appear to have an owner?  Well, it looked like the owner had been found, but apparently 5 years later, the airport disputes whether the people who say they own them really own them.  Bizarre…

If you haven’t signed up for IHG’s version of the dining clubs the airlines made popular years ago, here’s an easy opportunity for 2,000 free points.

Want to get a chance to fly the new Airbus A350?  Finnair will be flying it to the US for a limited time in 2016 and has plenty of award availability.

Delta led on-time arrivals in October with 92% of their flights landing less than 15 minutes after their scheduled arrival time.  Spirit improved significantly and was still only at 78%.  Of course, the airlines continue to seriously pad their schedules leading to better on-time arrival percentages….

Some things just can’t be unseen….
