Cheap Flights To Hot And Cold Destinations, Frozen Planes And Aer Lingus’ New Program
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
Here’s what I’m reading about today:
Cheap Flights of The Day: Hot or cold? Great choices for both. Head to Miami from NYC for $106 round-trip. These are for January and February travel, a great time NOT to be in the Northeast. Is snow more of your thing? Porter Airlines is having a sale for 45% off plus another 20% using the promo code in this link. Reading the T&C, I don’t believe it’s targeted, especially since I’ve never flown Porter. Porter flies to a handful of useful Canada destinations from Washington, DC, Boston, LAX, Chicago and more. They also have a few warm weather destinations they serve from Canada. The sale is for travel through roughly the end of February.
My daughter is so cute. I showed her pictures of the new Frozen-themed plane WestJet is rolling out. She’s at that age where some of the girls in her class think princesses are for babies but she still quietly likes Elsa and Anna. So, I have orders to book us on this plane as long as I promise not to tell her friends. I see a blackmail opportunity here! A surefire way to get her bedroom cleaned.
Aer Lingus is re-branding their loyalty program as they become a part of IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Iberia. I’m surprised to see that Avios will not be the new currency for Aer Lingus. But, like Ben, I look forward to leveraging the relationship.
1,000 British Airways Avios bonus for each hotel booking at Kaligo.
If you’re into manufactured spending, some malls have fee free gift cards for the next few days.
