Starbucks Evenings Opens at Dulles Airport
A couple months ago a “coming soon” sign popped up at my home airport, Washington Dulles. In the B concourse, they would be adding a new Starbucks Evenings location. In true Starbucks fashion, they placed this location directly across from the only Starbucks in the long A/B terminal.
At the outset, it looks like a normal Starbucks.
There are a few more pre-made sandwich choices in this location as compared to a normal Starbucks. There’s also a daily special board. When I breezed by last week they were offering an artichoke goat cheese flatbread, a St. Angel cheese plate and cheese fondue. You can also see wine bottles lining the back walls.
The public spaces look essentially the same as a normal Starbucks. It’s a bit “folksier” than the standard.
They also offer an everyday menu. Some interesting options you wouldn’t find at a normal Starbucks included Mediterranean Spiced Chicken Skewers, Truffle Mac & Cheese, and chicken & pesto flatbread. I though the wine list was safe if not overly imaginative. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is a reliable staple along with the Terrazas Malbec and Lucente. My picture didn’t come out too great, but it should give you a general idea of what they intend to offer.
I didn’t get a chance to dine but may give it a swing in the future. I generally depart Dulles in the morning so it’s less common I’d find myself eating lunch or dinner in the terminal. But, the many international passengers taking red-eyes to Europe and beyond will benefit from another option with something beyond the standard fare.
Overall, I think the menu is reasonably priced, probably cheaper than what I would expect given the “airport premium” effect.
