More New Hyatts In Some Interesting Places
I was just thinking the other day when we announced the next Frequent Traveler University that it was odd my go-to hotel company, Hyatt, didn’t have a property in Tysons Corner, VA. This is about 30 minutes from my house, and for those not familiar with Tysons, it’s a metropolis suburb of DC with just about every major brand having a presence. The Ritz in Tysons Corner is famous for great weekend rates due to the strong business population that floods the hotel during the week but is conspicuously absent on the weekend.
Then, I saw this announcement that Hyatt won the contract for a new hotel at Tysons Corner Center, a mall that’s being transformed into a large live/work community. While Hyatt has hotels nearby, this will clear up a noticeable empty spot on domestic coverage for them. With the advent of a Metro (subway) stop in Tysons adjacent to this hotel connecting Tysons to Dulles and Reagan airport, I would expect occupancy levels in Tysons to continue rising.
While I was reviewing that announcement, I also stumbled across news that Hyatt has broken ground in Puerto Rico. I prefer a full service resort when traveling outside of the country, but Hyatt House is my favorite non-full service brand. So, this is another plus.
Finally, Hyatt has taken over management of five hotels in India that previously were owned and operated by Ista Hotels. The Ista Hotels get mostly decent reviews on TripAdvisor, so they will most likely be a good addition to the chain as well.
