Shopping portals can be a great way to earn bonus points on items you already plan to purchase.  All of the major airlines have one and even some of the credit card companies, like Chase Ultimate Rewards.  If you’ve never shopped via United Airlines’ shopping portal before, now may be a good time for a purchase.

Earn Up To 1,000 Miles

United Airlines has a bonus via their shopping portal right now for new members.  If you’ve never completed a purchase through their shopping portal, you can earn up to 1,000 miles right now.

You can earn 500 miles by spending $125 within two weeks of signing up.  Or, if you hold a United credit card, you can earn 1,000 miles for spending $150 within two weeks.  Given the hundreds of everyday merchants on the shopping portals it really shouldn’t be hard to spend $150 in a two week span.

The Final Two Pennies

Shopping portals make a ton of sense for folks to use on purchases they already plan to make.  Apple, Best Buy, Gap and hundreds more retailers you probably already purchase from are on the portals.  A few simple clicks will add more miles to your account.  This can also be a great way to extend the life of your miles if you have an account that hasn’t had activity in a while.  Shopping portal miles generally count as activity to extend those expiration dates.  Keep in mind that this can generally be used for other members of your family to help extend their miles as well.

Use a program like AwardWallet to track when your miles expire and a site like CashBackMonitor to find the best miles or cash back option for your purchases!
