20% Discount On Awards For Hyatt Credit Card Members!
Hyatt Gold Passport is out with the best offer I’ve seen in 2015. Starting today and running through July 31, 2015 everyone who holds their co-branded Hyatt credit card will receive a 20% rebate on all point redemptions connected with a hotel stay.
That means a 20% rebate on:
- Award nights
- Points & Cash redemptions
- Suite upgrades
- Dining and spa awards
You have to register here by March 31, 2015. All stays need to be completed by July 31, 2015.
I can remember Jeff Zidell, the Senior VP in charge of Hyatt Gold Passport talking a few years ago at a media event. He was asked shortly after the release of Hyatt’s credit card what other ways Hyatt was going to examine to sell more points, further monetizing the loyalty program similarly to their competitors who appeared to be moving more to make it a profit center.
Jeff’s response was along the lines of….Hyatt has a loyalty program to reward and build loyalty, and we intend to keep doing things to reward and build loyalty. It was a great answer, but the proof is always in the actions programs take to reward loyalty members.
This move is very customer-friendly. There were people that jumped on Hyatt when they eliminated My Elite Rate at the end of 2014. Different customers will have different desires from a loyalty program, and I think Hyatt has done a really good job with this new award rebate serving up a benefit that can be broadly enjoyed by any member holding their credit card for most of the first 6 months of the year.
If you don’t have the credit card, I’d encourage you to give it a look (though you won’t be able to get in on this offer if you didn’t have the card by 1/31/2015). While it does carry an annual fee, the first-year benefit is one of the best, two free nights at any Hyatt hotel in the world. Upon renewal each year, you get a free night in a category 4 (or lower) property. There have been other promotions in the past where credit cardholders received more bonus points in quarterly promotions, and now a 20% rebate.
Hyatt makes a habit of finding unique ways to reward members, including “surprise and delight” items like this. With this offer, they’re spreading the extras around to a lot more members.
What do you think of this offer?
Thanks Hyatt!
