Free Hotel Status For All Bilt Members; Free Suite Upgrades For Bilt Platinum Members

Bilt Rewards has announced their January Rent Day, and it’s one that I’ll definitely be taking advantage of. They’ve announced a unique status match opportunity available to all Bilt Rewards members, even those without status in the Bilt program. And, it includes some pretty valuable benefits for top-tier Bilt Platinum members. Again, this offer is available for all Bilt Rewards members, regardless of whether you hold the Bilt Rewards Mastercard or have elite status with Bilt.
The status match period is short, so you’ll need to be ready. The status match opt-in period is from January 1st, 2025 at 12:00am ET until January 2nd, 2:59am ET in the Bilt Rewards app or website.
All Bilt members can apply for a status match to ALL Silver status. This offers modest benefits, including increased points earning on paid stays, late check-out and discounts on retail and spa services at brands like Fairmont.
Bilt Silver members and above can transfer Bilt Rewards points to Accor and activate ALL Gold status. Gold status earns more bonus points than ALL Silver. it also comes with early check-in or late check-out (you need to pick one for each stay), room upgrades (subject to availability) and a welcome amenity on each stay.
Bilt Platinum members can transfer points to Accor and activate ALL Platinum status. Platinum status comes with two free Suite Night Upgrades. Each can be redeemed for one free night in a suite, subject to availability. ALL Platinum members can earn additional Suite Night Ugprade awards for every 4,000 status points they earn.
ALL Platinum status also comes with lounge access and a host of smaller benefits at specific brands. 10% discounts on retail and spa at Fairmont, 20% at Raffles, etc. If you travel in Europe or Asia, there are plenty of Accor hotels. In North America, properties are a bit more limited but include Fairmont. Some of my favorite hotels in the world are part of the Fairmont family (Banff and Lake Louise for example). Another notable aspect of this transfer is that the status match is for the entire year of 2025. In many cases, status match opportunities are only good for a short period of time unless you perform some level of activity with the program. In this case, anyone who matches to ALL Silver status will receive a shortcut to renew the status with just 3 nights at an Accor hotel. Gold members get a shortcut to renew Gold with 8 nights. Folks who activate ALL Platinum don’t receive a shortcut but do receive a soft landing to Gold status in 2026.
The ALL program has a fixed value for their points, so it’s hard to get outsized value when redeeming points. However, there can be opportunities where it makes sense. And, Bilt Rewards offers the best transfer ratio at 3:2 on points transferred to Accor.
The Rest Of Rent Day
Bilt also has a number of offers on the first of each month to earn points. Most of them only require you to sign-up for a free Bilt Rewards membership.
You can play the Rent Free game show in the Bilt app, and they’ve recently added more chances to win. On top of being able to win a month’s free rent (for the top 10 scorers), the top 600 on the scoreboard will earn some bonus Bilt Rewards points.
For folks who hold the credit card, this is your reminder that you can earn double points on all categories (except rent) on the first day of every month (capped at 10,000 bonus points per month). That means you’ll earn:
- 6 points per dollar on dining
- 4 points per dollar on travel
- 2 points per dollar on everything else (except rent)
The Final Two Pennies
As a Bilt Platinum member, I will absolutely be taking advantage of this offer. If I only get a nice upgrade at a great Fairmont hotel, this will be well worth the small amount of points needed to activate ALL Platinum status. If you don’t have Bilt Platinum status, you’ll still want to activate the free ALL Silver status. It’s valid for a full year, and Accor really does have some lovely hotels.
Whether it makes sense to redeem some points to activate Gold or Platinum status will depend on your travel patterns. I haven’t engaged a ton with Accor over the years, even though I love the Fairmont brand. This promotion has already piqued my interest and I’ve begun planning ways to stay at Fairmont hotels in 2025.
Frankly, I love the business aspects of this promotion as well. Accor isn’t really “giving away” much in terms of Silver status, but the shortcut means many customers will have a reason to engage with the brand that they didn’t before. And, tying Gold and Platinum status to point transfers from Bilt gets members to put a little skin in the game. I’m sure neither Bilt or Accor are hoping members just transfer a few thousand points and never engage again. They’re hoping that a valuable offer is enough to entice Bilt Rewards members to give Accor a try.
On my recent Fairmont Royal York stay (before I learned about this promotion), I was offered a free room upgrade as an ALL member with no status and no paid stay history with the loyalty program. The rest of my stay reminded me why I fell in love with the Fairmont brand in the first place. High-touch service from friendly, available staff members in a beautiful, historical hotel. This partnership with Bilt comes along at the perfect time for me.
