I Need Your Help Again To Do Something Wonderful And Crazy

Things have been way too quiet lately, which means it’s time to do something crazy again.  If you’ve followed along here over the years, you know how much I enjoy helping others.  If you enjoy helping others and/or I’ve helped you over the years, I hope you’ll consider helping with my next crazy effort.

There are so many incredible charitable organizations out there.  One of my favorites is Give Kids The World.  Their mission resonates with me because of my own children.

They’re not terribly well-known, unless you’re a Disney nerd like me.  But, they perform a very important missions.  They house the Make-a-Wish kids who come to Disney World.

Thanks to the generosity of a hotelier, Give Kids The World was established 35 years ago to help make wishes come true for critically ill children.  The GKTW village is setup for families to stay (for free) in Orlando and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime trip where the answer is almost always “yes” to what kids want, including a pretty awesome ice cream setup.  Disney characters come visit the village and special transportation is arranged for families to visit the parks.  To date, Give Kids The World has hosted approximately 200,000 families from 76 countries around the world.

How can you help?  You can make fun of me and donate a few bucks along the way.  This Friday, November 4th I’ll be trying to ride every ride at Disney World, again.  Last time we did this we managed to ride 41 rides while walking/running 20 miles over the course of one day. With some new ride openings at Disney World there are now 53 total “rides”.  I’m expecting to be running/walking for the better part of 18 hours on Friday and I hope you’ll donate and cheer me along.

We might stop for a quick meal but I honestly expect the only time we’ll be sitting down will be on a ride or on a bus in between parks.  We’ll criss-cross all four parks and likely even double back to Magic Kingdom at the end of the night.  Along the way, we’ll have lots of fun.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year after raising over $20,000 last year.  Here’s a video of our exhausted finish from a few years ago.

Here’s what I need from you:

  1. Follow along on Instagram and Twitter.  SHARE it with as many people as possible so we can raise awareness.  I plan to donate an additional $10 for every person who donates to our campaign.
  2. Donate.  Please.  This is an incredible cause for families dealing with incredibly complex, emotional situations.

I’d also love to hear from you on Friday.  Tweet at me, shoot me a message on Instagram, dare us to do crazy things to earn more donations!
