It’s that time again. My partner in crime Jeanne and I are getting geared up for our next happy hour.

Jeanne writes the LeChic Geek blog. She and I have been hosting travel meetups/happy hours for the past couple of years now. I always have a ton of fun meeting readers of my blog and fellow travel nuts.
This time, we’re teaming up with Trevor from Tagging Miles to collect toys for kids who might otherwise not have a gift for the holidays.
For those of you who pay attention, we’re visiting one of our old haunts for this happy hour, Tortoise & Hare in Crystal City, VA:

Our one goal for this happy hour is to collect a lot of toys for kids. Okay, we also want to talk travel. I guess that’s two goals. Well, and we want to spend time with friends, new and old, enjoying a tasty beverage.
Let’s just agree we have a variety of goals.
But, I’d also really like to brighten the day of some kids. So, I really hope you’ll bring an unwrapped toy to our happy hour (the toy can’t be a weapon of any sort). If you don’t want to do that, bring $10 and one of us will buy a toy on your behalf.

I might suggest bringing the toys that people bring to a local homeless shelter instead of Toys 4 Tots. That origanization doesn’t vet, and toys may not go to children in real need. I don’t mean to vet, but as a veteran of the industry, this is one of my pet peeves.
