Earn Up To 2,000 Bonus United Mileage Plus Miles

It’s getting to be that time of year again.  As we get into “back-to-school” season, United Airlines is the first shopping portal to offer bonus miles for purchases this summer, though they surely won’t be the last.

2,000 Bonus United Miles

The promotion runs through 8/12/16 and has 3 tiers:

  • Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $250
  • Earn 1,500 bonus miles when you spend $750
  • Earn 2,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000

My buddy Mommy Points was the first one I saw talking about this, which is no surprise since she does such a great job maximizing mileage earning opportunities as a parent.  As always, there are T&Cs, though mostly just the normal strings:

*During the “Back to School” bonus campaign, which runs from 07/21/16 through 08/12/16 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”). During the Bonus Period, Member will earn a one-time bonus of up to 2,000 MileagePlus® bonus award miles on qualifying purchases, in addition to the standard MileagePlus miles earned from shopping online through the MileagePlus® Shopping mall. This one-time bonus award will be determined using one of the following tiers, based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period: Tier 1 bonus: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $250; Tier 2 bonus: 1,500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $750; or Tier 3 bonus: 2,000 miles for qualifying purchases of $1,000 or more. “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles. Please see the MileagePlus® Shopping mall site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions. Please allow 8-10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus® Shopping account. The Tier 3 bonus provides the maximum number of miles that will be awarded. Void where prohibited by law.
