Cheap Flight To Brazil and China, Southwest Unions Are Picketing And Hyatt Points For Amazon Purchases?
Yesterday was a day of work and play. Stuck on the phone for long periods of the day followed by a fun play day at Great Wolf Lodge with the kids. Here’s what’s going on that you’d be interested to read about:
Cheap Flight of the Day: Azul has discounted flights to Brazil, only $550. There are also cheap flights to China as well. Sub-$50o is a pretty solid deal.
Southwest pilots plan to picket at Dallas Love Field next week. This one is interesting to me as Southwest has generally had the reputation of happy employees over the years. But, they’re been fighting a lengthy contract battle with pilots and flight attendants over the last few years. Pilots rejected a contract last year that would have brought them up to par with pilots at other major airlines. It was stated that pilots didn’t like work rule changes in the agreement, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the employees are seeing record profits and thinking they deserve a bigger piece of the pie. They might be right (might not be as well), but this feels an awful lot like the cycle of increased demands that helped contribute to the last period of massive losses by the airlines.
Ever get screamed at for how you got off the airplane? When a flight attendant was the one escorting you off the plane?

Get the full breakdown on Hyatt Ziva Cancun. We enjoyed Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos a couple of years ago and I’m happy to hear this property seems equally enjoyable for families (minus the small waterpark issue).
Earn Hyatt points for your Amazon purchases? I’d have a humongous Hyatt balance.
American Airlines has new Cole Haan amenity kits.
You can use your Starpoints to have dinner with some of the world’s best chefs. It may be a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, but I wouldn’t redeem Starpoints for this even though I’m a foodie. The pot/kettle part is that I did redeem a boatload of Starpoints so my wife could play tennis with Andre Agassi. But, Chase has done some similar offerings in the past for Ultimate Reward points (though I believe that was James Beard chefs). Actually, the more I think about it, I changed my mind. Given that we don’t know what happens to Starpoints after the Marriott merger, burn ’em if you get ’em. Dinner with Daniel Boulud!
