Cheap Flights To Brazil, Hotel Discounts And Short-Haul Awards Going Away
The Best of the Rest is my effort to summarize all the travel/miles & points stories that interested me on a daily basis but didn’t have time to write about in length. Culled from over 100 blogs/authors I follow, some are passed along without comment, while I add my analysis to others. This is your shortcut to find out what’s going on in the travel world without having to read dozens of travel blogs to get all the best info.
Here’s what I’m reading about today:
Cheap Flights of The Day: Brazilian carrier Azul has sub-$500 fares to Rio on their new service to the US. Decent fares to Puerto Rico as well this week.
InsideFlyer Thread of the Day: $41 hotel credit with Hotel Quickly.
Hyatt is testing a new type of fuel cell which will be installed at their Greenwich, CT property. In theory, it may provide up to 75% of the hotel’s power needs. Given the size of that hotel, that’s substantial. I’ll be interested to learn more about this technology both from a financial and conservation standpoint.
Four Seasons jumps on the free WiFi bandwagon. Only thing surprising to me is why they wouldn’t do it sooner. The typical Four Seasons customer isn’t really the most price sensitive, so I would guess Four Seasons could build something into the base rate if they felt giving it away for free was too generous.
One of the best short-haul awards in the US is dying. This may mean you need to readjust your earning strategy.
A quick first peek at American Airlines’ new flagship dining at DFW.
Delta dumping Dubai. Because of politics?
